Unity not recognising imported files
Mon Oct 02, 2017 8:45 pm
So i have ran into this issue a few times. I will import a file and Unity wouldn't recognise the file. I found that a reason for this is the properties of the file. I ran into this problem a bunch with Mikkel. We have been working on a game together. His time zone is +1 hour a head from me so when he sends me a file and i use it right away i get this error.
This is because he created the file at 10pm (his time) sent it to me (9pm) mine time. So Unity gets messed up as it's trying to find a file which was made in the future.
You can get around this issue by modifying the filed yourself so it edits the properties or just wait until the time has paced.
Hope this helps someone

Ha! I didn't expect an issue like this!
AFAIK Windows stores file dates in UTC format, so this problem should not happen if files are exchanged between Windows systems, could it be that you two have different OSs?
Good to know this issue exists, it will be the first thing I'll check whenever Unity won't recognize files

We might of been using different OS yes. I also never thought this would cause an issue but apparently it does. It's not too bad as we are only 1 hour apart but for bigger times apart i would imagine it's a nightmare
